About

About Indochina Luxury

We plan private journeys in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for travellers who choose a trip by where they will sleep. This page explains how we work, what we will not do, and the things other planners may do better.

What we do

Indochina Luxury plans private journeys across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, built around the hotels. We start with where you want to wake up — a riverside suite, a beach villa, a room in a building older than most of the city around it — and work outwards: how many nights each stay needs, how you move between them, which days need a guide and which need nothing at all.

Every trip is for one party. There are no set departures and no shared cars. Our four sample journeys show the method, and our hotel comparison shows how we judge a stay before we suggest it.

Method

How we work

  • Hotels named, categories named. A quote from us names every hotel and the exact room category as the hotel describes it. We do not write "5-star hotel or similar".
  • Three nights or more. Land stays on our routes are three nights or longer, with a short list of exceptions we explain.
  • Fewer changes. We would rather drop a place than rush it.
  • Guides where they help. Guided days and free days are listed separately on every quote.
  • Flights over long drives. Where a domestic or regional flight replaces a long road day, we use it.
  • Honest about 4-star. Where a good 4-star hotel is the smarter choice, the quote says so and prices both.

What we do not do well

Every planner is good at some trips and poor at others. These are the ones we are poor at, and we would rather say it here than discover it after you have booked:

  • Large groups. Our trips are built for one party in one vehicle. Above about eight travellers the hotels, the cars and the pacing all start to work against the method.
  • Tight budgets. We can mix in 4-star hotels, but we do not plan trips around budget hotels or homestays, and our quotes will not compete with them.
  • Active trips. Hiking, cycling and long days outdoors are not what our routes are paced for.
  • Languages other than English. We plan and write in English. Guides in other languages can sometimes be arranged locally, but we cannot vouch for them in the same way.
  • Last-minute peak season. If you write in late November for Christmas, the small hotels we like are usually full, and we will tell you so rather than fill the gaps with hotels we would not choose.

Why there are no reviews on this site

We do not publish testimonials here. Quotes on a company's own website are chosen by the company, and you have no way to check them. Judge us instead by the first draft we send: it names every hotel and room category, and you can check each one against the hotel's own website before you commit to anything.

The same principle runs through the site. Where we state a fact — a room count, an opening year, a ticket price — we link the source and the date we read it. Where we give our judgement, such as the fewest nights worth booking or when to choose something else, we say it is ours.

How we use hotel names

Hotels on this site are named because they are public facts: their settings, sizes and histories are published on their own websites. Naming a hotel says nothing about a commercial relationship with it. We do not claim allocations or special rates, and we do not publish room prices; your quote carries the rate available when you confirm.

Hotel names

Hotels on this site are named as public facts taken from each hotel's own website, with the date we read it. Naming a hotel does not mean we hold a contract, an allocation or a special rate there. Room rates are not published here; your quote carries the rate available on the day you confirm.

Getting in touch

Use the form on any page. We reply by email to the address you give. If you would rather talk, tick the call-back box in the optional section and add a number. The contact page explains what to include so the first reply is useful, and how to book covers the steps after that.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Are you a hotel booking site?

No. We plan whole journeys — hotels, cars, guides and flights fitted together. For a hotel booking alone, booking directly with the hotel is simpler.

Do you plan trips outside these three countries?

No. Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos only; that is where we know the hotels, the roads and the flights.

Can we speak to someone before sending the form?

The form is the first step; tick the call-back box if you would rather talk once we have your dates.
